Welcome to our website, and thanks for checking us out! Amateur Pianists International is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide performance and educational opportunities to amateur pianists from around the world. Whether you are visiting us as a pianist or an obs
erver, you’ve come to the right place—we celebrate amateur pianists, those who play and perform in the non-professional realm.
Amateur Pianists International is based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, and was inspired by the Van Cliburn International Competition for Outstanding Amateurs. We host a Celebration every summer, with a roster of activities including concerts, workshops and social events to establish or rekindle friendships among pianists and piano enthusiasts.
During odd-numbered years, the Rocky Mountain Amateur Piano Competition is included in our Celebration. Click through the links to learn more about the competition and other special events, and find out how you can take part in API. We take pride in being a friendly, supportive music organization, and we welcome competitors, audience members and friends from all over the world. We hope you will join us, again and again, for great music in beautiful Colorado!
